House/House33 and Freshjive recently collaborated on a line called "Reserve". I don't know who the hat manufacturer was, but it defnitely wasnt Estate or New Era. Regardless...the hats are dope, especially the red ones. It's good to see that these two companies are getting together to create a full line rather than some limited T-shirt or something. Hopefully some other companies follow their lead...one can only hope.

Supreme...For Cold People.

Supreme is jumping right into the winter season with these ear flap New Era caps. New Era made hats like these last year around this time and im glad they decided to stick with the concept as I was a big fan last year, but worried that since they were only feasible in cold weather climates, they might nix the idea, but its good to see it re-used and definitely nice to see on a Supreme cap. These are available in these three checker patterns. The Green/Red one would be a nice substitute for the over used Santa hat...

Someone should drop a dope ass limited Santa hat...Alife, I'm lookin at you dudes...

Hufquake Round 2!!!

Just when you thought Benny Gold was done for 2006, he drops these gems on us. The neon green on blue is fucking bananas!!! These were made to be released along with the Hufquake Air Force 1 also designed by Benny Gold. They are to be released on Dec. 9th at Huf in San Francisco.

If someone would like to hook CapHappy up with some nice early Xmas presents, these would suit us just fine. 7 1/2 if you didnt know...haha. Can't wait for these!

SSUR Explosion!!!

SSUR just let out pictures of their new Fall/Winter line and it came along with some crazy New Era caps. The one you see above is, by far, the most tame piece in the new line. The hat features a design that may or may not be embroidered (its hard to tell...) of the Coney Island landmark Wonder Wheel.

I would like to think that this one is a commentary on the overusage of camo in streetwear, but I don't know for sure if that is the case. The hat features different camo prints on each panel of the hat. I believe the written embroidery on the front says "War of the Worlds". The most interesting part of this hat, I believe, is the camo pattern that is on the bill of the hat. New Era came out with a hat that had a camo print on the bill earlier in the year that had this horrible felt material that was creating the camo look. I really hope that isn't the case with this hat...

This is one of those hats that I can respect for it's design aspect, but dont particularly dig all that much. The hat features a woodgrain looking pattern on the hat, but the real (huh?) factor on this hat is the embroidered boat on the front of the hat. The embroidery is gold and has some serious detailing with, not only the boat being embroidered, but the waves as well. This hat just makes me feel like some dudes are really trying to think outside the box, and that's great...I just don't know if I'd wear it.

Now this is the hat that made me go WTF?! and WHOA!!! at the same time. I am not 100% sure what's going on here. This hat features a print that reminds me of a seat cover my great grandma had in 1979...This is insane! The worst part is, is I don't know if I hate it or like it. It definitely makes me WOW! at it, cause its so left field that I don't know what to think...It may be ahead of its time, or it may never have a time. Either way, once again I can definitely respect the creativity behind the hat, but man...really have no clue what to think about this one...

Subware Gets Simple

I was relieved to see that Subware was putting out a simpler version of their New Era cap after seeing their previous attempt on a New Era fitted that was basically ADD on a hat. This hat features the Subware Arrow design in orange on a brown hat. "Subware" is embroidered on the back of the hat in a lighter shade of brown. This hat is currently available over at CaliRoots

Recon Goes Suede

Recon recently dropped this hat with their fall/winter line. I am always a fan when companies along with New Era decide to use materials outside of the usual wool they are most known for. This hat is suede with the fence design "burned" into the hat. The New Era (side) and Recon (back) logos are embroidered in brown to match the underbill. This hat is now available over at CaliRoots.

Freshjive Marble Burst

Here's a new cap from the heads over at Freshjive. The hat features what is called a "marble burst" pattern with a 3-D Freshjive logo on the front. I am definitely digging what New Era and all other companies have been doing with the exploration of new patterns for their 59/50's. Im glad they are not resting on an already great product, but instead continuing to push the envelope. Great job here from Freshjive. In Stores Now!!!

UNDFTD Crackle Print

Following suit behind Mike and the Air Jordan III's, Undefeated leaked their new crackle print fitted over on their website. As you can see they didn't want to let the whole cat out of the bag just yet, so they gave us this sneak peek. The hat is grey with a lighter grey crackle print pattern throughout the hat and features the 5 strike UNDFTD logo in black. I wonder if they will have this hat in any different colorways...? Capitalize on Tragedy!

The 12th Street Riot in Detroit began in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 23, 1967. Vice squad officers executed a raid at a blind pig on the corner of 12th Street and Clairmount on the city's near westside. The confrontation with the patrons there evolved into one of the deadliest and most destructive riots in modern U.S. history, lasting five days and far surpassing the 1943 riot the city endured. Before the end, the state and federal governments sent in National Guard and U.S. Army troops and the result was forty-three dead, 467 injured, over 7,200 arrests and more than 2,000 buildings burned down.

This hat and shirt combo was displayed on Hypebeast today and is set to be released along with the Fall line from Poets & Thieves. The hat was made to match the shirt you see below it. I normally wouldn't show shirts on the site, but I needed it to provide context.

As you have hopefully read above, the Detroit riots in 1967 are one of the bloodiest ordeals in American history. We at CapHappy, find it ridiculous that a company would be exploiting such an event in clothing form. While I'm sure that Poets & Thieves would rush to give us all a rundown about how the shirt and hat was made in remembrance of those who were effected by the event, the fact of the matter is that they are making money off of this. What's worse is that streetwear kids are going to rush to the stores to pick it up because "It's that new shit I saw on Hypebeast", without knowing the story behind what they're wearing and that they are, in essence, celebrating the death or injury of 500 people.

As many of you know, we are fans of all sorts of caps, at times, we will even post hats that we don't like simply because we can respect the design, idea, or story behind a product, but this is something we simply cannot support. While I'm sure that Poets & Thieves could give two shits about what we think, our hope is that one or two of you faithful readers will follow along in not supporting projects like this.

If not, then open the doors wide for the upcoming Holocaust all-over print Hoodie to match your Hurricane Katrina Dunks...

King Stampede Loves Girls!

King Stampede turned heads last season when they decided to release their take on the famed New York hat. They're doing it again this season, not only by providing us with a hot colorway of the cap, but also by releasing it in a women's 59/50. I don't know the specifics of what a women's 59/50 entails, but its great to have a clothing company thats giving the ladies some shine. Pick this up for your girl/mom/sister/myspace crush and get the men's version for yourself if you are into matching your significant other...(which I am not...)

King Stampede recently let High Snobiety have a sneak peek at their new fall line, which included these New Era hats. King Stampede has a history of releasing nice collabos with New Era. The line will also feature new colorways of their Most Benevolent Kings hat, as well as their Ole hat. According to the King Stampede website, their new fall line is set to drop November 20th.

J Dilla New Era Release Info

We've gotten a ton of requests for info surrounding the J Dilla New Era hat we featured last month, and now we finally have release information regarding this cap.

The release date has been scheduled for Black Friday, November 24th. The hat will be released in two different colorways (crimson/black) corresponding to "The Shining" album, as well as the instrumental album. They will be released exclusively at Union, Goodfoot, and online at Okayplayer.com.

Each colorway will be limited to 144 pieces and all proceeds from the caps will go to the J Dilla Foundation, which which contributes to Lupus research and education for underprivileged children.

DQM Goes Plaid

DQM let out this picture of their upcoming New Era hats over at Chris Keefe's Blog. I am liking the road that both New Era and DQM are taking in exploring new patterns for their caps. Reason at Reed

The new Reason line just dropped over at The Reed Space, which includes these hats. The use of cross patterns seems to be a trend this fall, as other lines, most notably 10 Deep, are using it in their designs. The hats feature polka dot, checker, and plaid patterns. I think the hats might be trying to make a statement considering the current state of streetwear and its blatant overusage of polka dots. Reason may have just said, "kids dig these patterns seperately, why not throw them all on the same hat?". This thought actually makes me like the hat alot more. Nice work from Reason.

Helly Hansen Headgear

I was checking out Jeff Staple's blog To Darrin Hudson and caught this piece from Helly Hansen. From what Staple says on the blog, the "LOVE" program involves Helly Hansen sending out free articles of clothing that they produce for the campaign. They have done a zip-up hoodie before and now this collaboration with New Era.

The stitching on the hat is obviously the most interesting part on the hat. The grey color on the inside makes me wonder if it is lined, as Helly Hansen is quite well known for their extreme weather products. The riveted Helly Hansen band on the back of the hat is something I haven't ever seen on a New Era cap. I'm not sure of many other details around the hat but I will update if anything new surfaces.

Orisue Sneak Peek

Up and coming LA clothing brand Orisue recently let out this picture of their soon to drop New Era Fitted. Hardly any details can be seen other than the fact the liner looks like its satin and the underbill has a leopard print. But as far as speculation goes, to me it seems like the hat will be a denim type material, looks like a grey-ish black color. I would imagine the Orisue logo will be on the front of the cap (maybe gold?). Who knows? Either way, this is set to drop soon and the heads over at Orisue have done a great job stirring up the imaginations of cap lovers everywhere.

Grey One Fitted!!!!!

Finally, another hat to get excited about...Grey One and New Era collaborated on this piece. The hat looks great, first of all, the hat is made of suede and features the Grey One logo on the front of the hat. The side is what really got me diggin this hat, It has Grey One in a great lacy font in raised 3-D embroidery. The underbill also seems to have a nice pattern on it and if we're lucky the inside of the hat will have a satin liner. Real nice work from Grey One.

Jack Spade Gets Fitted

Jack Spade recently collaborated with New Era to produce this hat for Spade's Chinatown Collection. The hat is made of the plastic they use to make fake straw bags. I'm not really sure what to think about this one. I really dig the colors, but I dont know how woven plastic would feel on my head...Regardless, it's an interesting and innovative idea from both New Era and Jack Spade. This hat is limited to 50 pieces and will be released this Saturday, November 4th at Barney's.

Estate Halloween LA Jumpoff

Heres a nice piece from hat game newcomer Estate LA. The hat features the typical halloween colors orange and black, but the hat has some nice details that set it apart. The "LA" on the hat is comprised of bones outlined in orange, while the underbill has some jack-o-lantern faces on it. The stitching on the hat is also orange as well as a strip of orange on the bill of the hat. Pick this one up and be "that dude" tonight at your halloween party.

Staple Design Pigeon Cap

After the fiasco that the Pigeon Dunk created, Staple Design has come out with this New Era cap to ride the pigeon train a little longer. At this point the pigeon logo has become a classic symbol to sneakerheads all around, but Staple still managed to keep it fresh with this piece. The pigeon on the hat is offset to the right and the New Era logo on the side is the salmon color that was featured on the original Pigeon Dunk. My favorite part of this hat is the bird shit thats on the back. I'm glad someone is bringing a sense of humor to the hat game.

Laced Boston has released these fitted caps in conjunction with New Era. I really dig the Laced logo and its play on the seal of a U.S. dollar, plus it looks great on the cap. The hats come in some real nice colorways and have some nice details like the piping down the seams of the back of the cap with the stars and embroidery of "Laced" on the back. The underbill is also a really nice touch to the cap.

Animal Bikes is dropping this fitted on November 15th. The caps were designed by Whiteboy. I really like that they offset the logo on this, its definitely a new-ish idea...especially on a hat. Here's some heat from the minds over at Freshjive. This a pretty impressive piece with the All-over "FJ" monogram throughout the hat that is embroidered. The color on this hat is really subtle with the charcoal hat and the silver embroidery, i definitely dig it. If you stare at it long enough, it becomes an optical illusion...COMING SOON! Ugly X New errrr...Leilow X New Era

This hat was put up on Hiroshi Fujiwara's blog today. As far as I can see, this hat has not yet been put into production and I hope it stays that way...I don't really understand the recent craze with fur usage starting with the Nike "Three Bears" Pack and now this, but it really needs to stop. This is hideous. If I were to see someone wearing this on the street I would not only clown on them myself, but also convince others to join me.

This hat makes me think that New Era may be thinking "hmm...lets see how stupid we can make people look", and honestly, since when is leopard skin awesome? I wouldn't even put this shit on the seats in my car let alone on my head...You don't have to listen to us, but if our word is worth anything, do not buy this if it ever comes out...its completely ridiculous. If we are lucky this won't get past the sample stage.

This is a cap from 3Sixteen Clothing and the up and coming hat manufacturer Estate LA. I've seen a couple samples from Estate in the past, but this is the first one that really impressed me. The crafstmanship on the hat is really decent. The stitching looks great and the crown looks really good. The "3S" logo on the front of the hat looks great with the material they used on the hat. Best of all the hat has a satin liner, which gives the hat a real nice high quality touch. Great work from 3Sixteen and Estate.

Flying Coffin Fitted

Flying Coffin and Fitted Hawaii have collaborated on this offering. The hat is currently in production and will be released shortly.

The cap features a Purple/Black colorway with the Flying Coffin logo on the front of the hat. The detailing on the logo is pretty impressive with the wings on the coffin being interwoven with the lightning bolts but put back under the stars. Great work from the minds at Fitted Hawaii and Flying Coffin.

Recon dropped this cap yesterday and it has since sold out everywhere I can find online. It was available at Turntablelab for a minute so keep checking back there just in case they get a restock or something.

The hat features the signature Recon barbed wire logo as an all over print throughout the cap. The underbill has a dollar bill monogram, while the back of the hat has "Recon" on it.

Kid Robot X New Era Pt. 2

This is another offering from the labs over at Kid Robot. They are taking their own personal take on the whole camo craze that was around a while ago (mostly due to BAPE). I am hoping their is enough of the craze still around for people to go out and pick this hat up.

The camo print on the hat is made up of what looks like spray paint dots whose paint ran. The camo print is featured on two seperate panels and the Kid Robot 3D embroidery is featured again on the back right panel. Keep an eye out for this one.

Here's a new one from the minds over at Kid Robot. The mouth and teeth that you see on the sides of the hat are embroidered, not screen printed, which was a very pleasant surprise to me. The underbill has an all over style print of bombs and the back of the hat has a 3D embroidery of "Kid Robot". One of the most surprising things to me about this hat in on the inside of the hat where you'd normally find the 59/50 stitching liner, you'll find a Kid Robot liner. Just a small touch, but its the little things that get you far in life right? (thats what she said...)

New Era

J Dilla X New Era!!!

This hat commemorates the J Dilla album "The Shining". The hat has some great usage of gold foil print as well as the gold embroidered logo on the front of the hat, which is the same logo that is on the album. The back of the hat gets crazy with a connect the dot pattern mating "The Shining" logo with "JD" in calligraphy, and what I interpret to be an infinity sign (JD til Infinity!!! Wheres my mashup?)..."The Shining" can also be seen on the side of the hat.

Similar to the Harold Hunter Capture the Flag hat, the proceeds gained from purchases of this hat will go to the J Dilla Foundation, which contributes to Lupus research and the education of the arts to under privileged children concentrating mostly on music.

I recommend everyone pick up this hat for a couple reasons. One, its for a great cause. Two, J Dilla's music was so incredibly next level. And three, you'll look good wearing this fresh hat. Pick it up when it drops cause CapHappy said so!!!

Zoo York x New Era Harold Hunter Cap

From New Era's Capture the Flag project and Zoo York comes this Harold Hunter commemorative cap. As with all Capture the Flag caps, the project is limited to 288 pieces. There will be a pre-release at the New Era flagship store in New York on October 7th for 20 hats, followed by the full launch one week later on October 14th.

The best part about this project is that all proceeds from the hat will be going to the Stoked Mentoring charity, which helps out at-risk inner city kids through mentoring and action sports.

This hat is absolutely gorgeous. Black on Black cashmere featuring an old english "HH" logo with silver pinstriping on the front. A Harold Hunter quote is embroidered on the inside of the hat along with a map of one of his favorite skate spots on the satin yellow lining. And finally, dont forget as with all Capture the Flag caps, this comes in a satin lined case with a numbered card for authenticity.

Get the hat not only because its super dope, but because it also goes to a good cause. If you are in the New York area on October 7th head on down to Chinatown Skatepark and take part in the "Harold Hunter Day" festivites.

Huf Chain Series New Era

This is a look at the new Chain Series from Huf. The hats are designed by hanni el khatib and feature what looks like embroidered chains throughout the hat in a pinstripe fashion. 10 Deep X New Era

This hat from New Era and 10 Deep was brought to my attention by that dude Itodd. I'm not normally a huge fan of New Era's non 59/50 caps, but this shit is so nice. The cap is reminiscent of the old school style Pittsburgh Pirates flat top hats. The logo is a blue that 10 deep has really been pushing in their new season (see hoodies). The hat also has the 10 Deep logo on the underbill with a super dope silk liner on the inside of the hat.

The hat was picked up at Social Study in Frederick, which is an hour west of Baltimore. Head down there to pick up your own.

Staple X LTD Mag New Era

This new hat from Staple and LTD magazine is now available at Reed Space. As an added bonus you get a matching shirt with the same logo on it. Very few are available so get down there quick.

The Staple logo appears to fade into the LTD logo, which is very cool and the underbill is either black or brown. Ill post more info as I can get it.

STOP THE MOTHERFUCKING PRESSES! Mishka X New Era WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!? The Mishka crew just dropped this bomb on the world over on their slamXhype blog. As usual Mishka comes at us with some innovative stuff to blow your mind. The pattern on the cap is insane! I can't wait to get my hands on one. The logo is nice and simple on the front, but the back of the hat has that intricate Mishka goodness we're used to. I can't really tell what type of material is used here, I don't know if the pattern is screen printed or what the deal is...all I know is that I want one, and need one immediately. Can't wait for this release.

Hardwood Classics: San Francisco Warriors

Before being renamed as Golden State, the San Francisco Warriors boasted one of the greatest rosters in history. Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Nate Thurmond, and Jerry Lucas all played for the SF Warriors at one time or another. The team played a majority of their games at the Cow Palace in Daly City, but in 1966 the team started scheduling home games at the newly finished Oakland Coliseum. In 1971 the team officially changed its name to the Golden State Warriors.

This hat commemorates a team that many people don't remember existed. The logo is classic featuring the Golden Gate bridge and the San Francisco Warriors seal on the right panel of the hat is a nice touch. The Hardwood Classics seal on the back is pretty detailed if you take a good look at it. The shading behind the letters is done in white embroidery while the seams in the basketball are done in black thread.

This is one of my favorite hats that I own. One, because the hat has a great story behind it that lends itself to be a conversation piece anywhere I go, and two, just because its a damn nice hat. I will say this though...it's kind of hard to wear the hat outside of October...luckily, thats just around the corner.

As seen on The Hundreds Danny Boy is rockin this custom made La Coka Nostra New Era. The hat was hand drawn by one of his friends so it can be assumed that it is one of a kind. The drawing is really detailed, if you look closely theres even a pattern on the bandana that the skull Yankee fan is wearing. More paisley? I can't see close enough, but it's definitely a dope hat nonetheless.

These Shoe Gallery New Eras are some really interesting hats. You can see that they took some time to really think out the hat. If you look closely at the embroidered logo on the front there are gaps in the embroidery, which I dont know if I've seen before. Kind of a minute detail, but pretty awesome nonetheless. The lace portion of the logo also looks awesome. Now available at Shoe Gallery in Miami.

The new hat by Atmos NYC and New Era seems like its been a long time coming. Atmos has definitely tried to do something innovative with the materials of the hat. The green 3d embroidered Atmos logo looks great on that somewhat checkered pattern on the hat. Both hats are now available in all Atmos stores.

New Era Yankees Paisley Sample

With the recent paisley craze coming after The Hundreds now infamous hoodie, It looks as if New Era decided to throw their hat into the fire...(no pun intended...well...maybe?). The hat features a small yankees logo on the right front panel, but the real gem here is the oversized MLB logo that is filled with paisley embroidery (not screened). The middle panels are black, while the back ones are red all sewn together by red stitching. The underside of the bill is black, but as you follow under the hat you catch the second gem of this hat... a paisley sweatband!!!

New Era is killin me with these nice Yankees hats. I'll never be a fan! NEVAAAAARRR!!!

ALIFE Frankenstein New Era Fitted

Alife recently updated the front page of their website with this little number. When I first saw the hat I could only wonder "Why didn't anyone think of this before?". This is a great idea especially with Halloween coming up. Truly one of the best concepts I've seen in a while.

Acapulco Gold 59/50!!!

This new 59/50 from New Era and Acapulco Gold is set to drop later this year in 3 different colorways. The underside of the bill has a monogram print that matches the 3d embroidered logo on the front. You can see some smooth detailing in the interweaving of the "AG" on the front. I will definitely be looking to pick up all three when they drop.

New Era 59/50 Yankees Sample

I recently got this sample from New Era and its one of the freshest hats I've seen in a while. I opened up the box and could only muster a Keanu-like "WHOA..." in response. Its got a purple camo splatter pattern all over the hat with a purple Yankees logo. The panels are split by purple piping that give the hat a nice break from the splatter. The underside of the bill is also purple, while the inside of the hat is white.

This hat has caused my therapy bills to skyrocket as I'm a die hard Red Sox fan, but I am genuinely considering rocking this out. I will keep everyone updated on my mental health status.

So I wear a hat everyday...in the last 6 years I think I've left my house three times without having some sort of cover on my head. One of those times doesn't even count because I got stuck in a riot and I was put in the position of "save your hat and get trampled or get the fuck out of here, fuck the hat..." I chose the latter. Whether you call them caps, lids, hats, fitteds, or whatever...these things have been a staple in my life since I was a kid. So...I decided to start a blog to document this...umm...I guess we can call it an obsession? So bear with me as I get this rollin, enjoy the hats, and thanks for visiting.
